Dean's Certificate
The Dean's Certificate in International Business is awarded to students who demonstrate a superior knowledge of a region, its culture, language, and business practices. These students must pass a language proficiency exam, complete a set of international courses, and participate in an overseas study abroad program or internship.
Students wanting to pursue the Dean's Certificate in International Business must seek advance approval from an advisor in 206 Summerfield Hall.
DEAN'S CERTIFICATE REQUIREMENTS
- Applicants must study a foreign language through the Intermediate II distinction (these may be defined differently by each department) and take the business language course where available.
- Applicants must also pass the language proficiency test with a score of "High Intermediate" or above.
- Two area studies courses that focus on a single geographic area related to the student's language competency must also be taken. The acceptable classes can be found on the approved list of courses in the Advising Office, 206 Summerfield Hall. The two classes must be passed with a "B" or better.
- Three approved Advanced Business International Business Electives must be completed with a "B" or better.
- Students must complete a study abroad experience or an international internship specifically approved in the geographic area corresponding to the language and area study courses.
