Study Abroad: France
Spring Break, 2007: March 17-23

Spend spring break in France and earn graduate credit!

The KU CIBER offers a short-term study abroad in Clermont-Ferrand, France, at the Ecole Superieure de Commerce (ESC). ESC-Clermont is one of France's top ten business schools. The school's hands-on courses emphasize the importance of international business topics, and have helped it earn its reputation as an educational innovator.

The ESC-Clermont program, which includes site visits to French companies in addition to classes, provides a great opportunity for students to learn about the European business environment. Classes are taught in English, and students participate in class projects and cultural activities with ESC students. Typically, students from 12-14 countries participate in this experience.

Clermont-Ferrand, located in a picturesque city near a chain of dormant volcanoes in the heart of France, has a history dating back to the fourth century B.C. Students in this program benefit from their exposure to French and European culture, as well as from their business studies.

This program will focus on various dimensions of the European business environment and guidelines for operating effectively in Europe. Each student will be part of a multinational team of KU and ESC students, for class projects and some social events. You will visit a number of companies and cultural sites and learn first-hand from French business executives. There will be regional tours of the Clermont-Ferrand and Lyon areas of France, with the possibility of an optional day in Paris. This graduate course will be taught in English by faculty from the prestigious Ecole Superieure de Commerce-Clermont. Supplemental classes will be taught by KU faculty before departure.

WHO: MBA students from KU and other universities; graduate students from other professional schools such as engineering, architecture, law, and journalism; and undergraduate seniors (space permitting).

WHAT: Graduate level course focusing on the various dimensions of the European business environment and guidelines for operating effectively in Europe, with particular attention paid to regional economic development.
