Hotel Accommodations

Springhill Suites MarriotThose participants lacking their own transportation should stay at the Springhill Suites Marriot (at left), 1 Riverfront Plaza, Lawrence, KS 66044, about 2 kilometers from the Adams Center. The Marriot fronts the Kansas River, adjacent to downtown Lawrence. A block booking has been arranged for the nights of April 4 and 5, 2007 in standard suites at a corporate rate of US$79 (exclusive of tax). For reservations please contact the hotel directly, and specify that you are with the Post Conflict Development Symposium to obtain the corporate rate; when booking online use PCDPCDA for double queen or PCDPCDB for a king room. Attendees will need to contact the hotel directly should they encounter any difficulties or wish to add additional nights. (Currently, April 6, 2007 is completely booked.) Eldridge HotelFor participants without transportation who plan to stay April 4-6, 2007, it will be necessary to switch to the Eldridge Hotel the night of April 6. The Eldridge is two blocks from the Springhill Suites. (Transportation will be provided.) The Eldridge—which is on the National Registry of Historic Sites—is located in downtown Lawrence, at 701 Massachusetts. Please call the Eldridge directly; you will need to provide a major credit card to guarantee your reservation, which must be made by March 6, 2007. Traveling to Lawrence

A Home in Old West LawrenceLawrence is located on Interstate 70, about 40 minutes from downtown Kansas City, Missouri. For those participants traveling by air, the airport for Lawrence is Kansas City International. (Pictured at left, a home in Old West Lawrence.)

The Kansas City International Airport is north of Kansas City, Missouri, 50 minutes northeast of Lawrence. Flying time from Washington, D.C. is about 2 hours;1 from New York, about 3 hours.2 Direct flights are available from both those cities and other major metropolitan areas. You can rent a car there or take the shuttle to Lawrence ($37 one-way) operated by Midwest Transportation Services (1-888-467-3729). Shuttles leave every two hours from 6 a.m. to midnight.
